Ecommerce Le Globe-Trotter

Ecommerce Le Globe-Trotter

The outdoor shop in Plainpalais had a reputation for advice, and an online store that did not carry it. Rebuilt on WooCommerce, in three weeks.

Le Globe-Trotter has been outfitting travellers from its shop on boulevard des Philosophes, in Plainpalais. People come to try a pack, compare two pairs of boots and leave properly advised. That knowledge lived in the shop; it did not carry over to the old online store.

We rebuilt the store on WordPress and WooCommerce: catalogue architecture, migration of the data from the old shop, payments and delivery, then optimisation for search.

One journey, three intentions

The site follows the way equipment is actually bought: you explore, you compare, then you order. Each step has its page and its pace.

  • ExploreFive distinct worlds — travel and luggage, mountain and trekking, camping and bivouac, clothing and footwear, accessories and safety.
  • ChooseA product page that brings together the images, the price and the details a decision needs.
  • OrderThe way to the basket stays visible, close to the information, with no break in the journey.
  • Carry the existing forwardThe house logotype and identity are kept: the work is on the web, not on the brand.

What was carried over, what was rebuilt

  • Migration of the catalogue and the content from the old shop, blog posts included, with the old addresses redirected to the new ones
  • Structured product pages: images, price, specifications, availability
  • Payments and delivery configured for Switzerland, in-store pickup included
  • Search optimisation across the product worlds and the brands carried
  • Service pages — The shop, Our brands, Practical information — tied back to the catalogue

The codes of the site

Montserrat and Inter, a plain hierarchy, generous space and a palette rooted in the outdoors: olive, ivory, ochre. The existing identity was not redrawn; it was carried into the web experience.

Buying equipment takes preparation. A site does not have to sell faster than the customer decides.

ABiL MEDiAS

What it showed

A specialist shop does not have to disown its counter to sell online. The advice its reputation rests on does carry over: into readable product worlds, into pages that answer the real questions, and into a basket that stays within reach. The rest — the migration, the payments, the findability — is craft, not magic.
